False Confession: How did the defense prove ‘murder’ was actually suicide?
An apparent suicide turned to suspected homicide when the Marine Sergeant victim’s best friend, a Lance Corporal, confessed twice to shooting him point-blank in the head. The weapon’s safety found on seemed to corroborate his story. However, expert testimony at the Article 32 hearing convinced the investigating officer the confessions were false.
